We are a small-scale, family-run market garden located 5 miles north of Virden. Our 12-acre farm provides the surrounding communities with fresh produce from June to November.
We offer a wide selection of vegetables, including potatoes, corn, carrots, beets, beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, garlic, and onions.
We distribute our produce at the local Virden Farmers' Market (every Friday from June- September, 10 am- 12:30 pm) and through our 10-week CSA program. We also offer online preorder, with the option for pick-up or delivery.
Growing up, Marlin spent countless summers working at his parents' market garden (the original Peters Market Garden). During his university years, he (and his brother Chad) independently managed the business for several seasons.
After some years away, Marlin and his wife Deb officially took over the family business in 2008. Having bought a nearby acreage, they relocated the operation to its present location.
Marlin manages the garden's operations, from the marketing and admin side to the planting and harvesting.
During the off-season, Marlin works as a Senior Accounting Technician at MNP.
The work we do wouldn't be possible without our hardworking crew! Each summer, we hire a handful of high school and university students who faithfully show up rain or shine to plant, harvest, wash, and package our vegetables. Over the years, this team has included Marlin's daughters, nephews, and nieces, as well as other local students.
Peters Market Garden was established by Walter and Erna Peters (Marlin's parents) in 1978.
